IVECO 180/28 4×4

Power, Reach and Precision

Thorman Trees was one of the first arboricultural contractors in North Wales to operate a heavy forestry crane. Investing in specialist lifting equipment transformed the way we approached large and technically demanding tree work, allowing heavy timber, storm-damaged trees and bulky debris to be handled quickly, safely and efficiently.

For our clients, this means shorter project times, reduced manual handling, improved site safety and, in many cases, lower overall costs.

After years of experience, we chose the 18-tonne 4×4 Iveco as the ideal balance of lifting capacity, off-road capability, manoeuvrability and access to challenging sites.

Our latest vehicle is equipped with a Palfinger radio remote crane, giving the operator precise control while maintaining full visibility of the lift. The crane can also be fitted with a grapple and hydraulic shear, allowing sections of trees to be mechanically dismantled and processed safely and efficiently where conditions permit.

Benefits

Heavy lifting of large timber with minimal manual handling

✓ Faster, more efficient dismantling of large and hazardous trees

✓ 4×4 capability for difficult and remote locations

✓ Radio remote operation for maximum precision and safety

✓ Grapple and shear attachments for mechanical tree dismantling

Schäffer 548 loader

Compact Power. Maximum Efficiency.

Our Schäffer 548 compact loader plays a vital role on many tree surgery and woodland management projects. Despite its compact size, it has exceptional lifting capacity and manoeuvrability, allowing heavy timber and materials to be moved quickly while minimising manual handling and site disruption.

Its articulated steering and low ground pressure make it ideal for working in confined spaces, woodland, gardens and sensitive landscapes where larger machines would struggle.

Benefits

Moves heavy timber safely and efficiently

Reduces manual handling and improves site safety

Compact size for excellent access to restricted areas

Low ground pressure helps minimise damage to lawns and landscaping

Increases productivity, helping complete projects more quickly

Ideal for timber handling, loading vehicles and site clearance

Farmi 260 Biomass Chipper

Turning Waste into Valuable Biomass

Our Farmi 260 biomass chipper allows us to process large volumes of branches, brash and timber quickly and efficiently, transforming what would otherwise be waste into a valuable renewable resource.

Rather than simply disposing of timber, we aim wherever possible to recycle and reuse material. Woodchip can be used for biomass fuel, woodland paths, landscaping and habitat creation, helping to reduce waste while making the most of every project.

The Farmi's robust construction and high throughput make it ideal for everything from domestic tree work to large estate management and commercial site clearance.

Benefits

Fast processing of branches and brash

Reduces waste through recycling and biomass production

Efficient clearance of sites following tree work

Produces quality woodchip for biomass and landscaping

Reduces transport and disposal costs

Supports a more sustainable approach to arboriculture

Excavator-mounted forestry mulcher for land clearance, woodland restoration and vegetation management.

Seppi BMS Forestry Mulcher

Transforming Overgrown Land

Our Seppi BMS forestry mulcher enables us to clear dense vegetation, scrub, bramble, rhododendron and small trees quickly and efficiently, converting unwanted growth into nutrient-rich mulch directly on site.

Ideal for woodland restoration, estate management, development sites and overgrown land, forestry mulching provides a fast, environmentally responsible alternative to burning or removing large volumes of vegetation.

By leaving a protective mulch layer on the ground, the process helps reduce erosion, suppresses weed growth and returns valuable organic matter to the soil.

Benefits

Rapid clearance of overgrown land and dense vegetation

Ideal for rhododendron, scrub and invasive species control

Produces mulch on site, reducing waste removal

Eliminates the need for burning in many situations

Minimal ground disturbance compared with traditional clearance methods

Ideal for woodland restoration, estates, farms and development sites
